Henry Edward Ainsworth

Henry Edward Ainsworth was the father of Fred Ainsworth (husband of Jean Charlotte Morley). He was married to Elizabeth Caroline ('Clara') Roberts. He was the son of William Ainsworth and Mary Simcock.

He was born 18 April, 1867, in Altrincham, Cheshire, England. He died at Aspul (or Aspull), Lancashire. He was a hydrolic engineer (a job connected to mining). He was a rope splicer and 'pump man' at a coal mine. He belonged to the Church of England. Henry Edward Ainsworth is listed as age "7' in the 1881 England Census - as born in Aspull, Lancashire, scholar.' In the 1901 Census he is age 27 - born. Lancs, Aspull; 'colliery haulage hand below ground.'

His marriage to Clara Roberts (born ca 1871) was said to be one 'of convenience.' Fred Ainsworth was the only child of this second marriage (he was married previously to Mary E. Unknown, born Westhoughton, Lancashire, England ca 1865 - and still living in the 1891 Census).

It appears from the 1891 Census of Lancashire, England that Henry is living with his parents, William (then aged 46) and Mary (then aged 42). Children of Henry Edward and his first wife Mary E. Unknown included Mary (born in Westhoughton, Lancashire, England ca 1896); Polly (born Westhoughton, Lancashire, England ca 1899 - died ca 1938); and John (born ca 1890).

Clara, who was raised at Blackrod, Lancashire, was 46 when Fred was born. After his death, she married an (unknown) Mr. Peet who was buried at Preston, Lancashire. Clara died at Salemoor, Cheshire in 1939; though she too is buried at Preston, with her husband. They had a son, Henry Peet who was called 'Burt.' (1882 Census: there is a 'Henry Peet, son, male, age 15, b. Preston, Lancashire: scholar). Clara died in 1895 (see below) in the District of Bolton, Lancashire.
