Catherine Hanafin was born in Co. Kerry, Ireland. As per records below, it is possible that her parents were Daniel Hannifan and Mary Buckley of Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. She married Owen O'Connor in Co. Kerry and they removed to London, England, residing in St. Giles Parish, Middlesex Co.

In the 1861 Census, Catherine and Owen are both said to be 56, residing in the parish of St. Giles in the Fields. (This would suggest they were born ca 1805 - but, see 1871 Census, below).
