The Aldous family intersects with the Barber and Clutton families at various places and times. More directly, for the purposes of my family tree, is the Clutton connection, as follows: Mary Clutton (1707 - 1784) who married [[Robert Barber]] (1704 - 1771) was the daughter of William Clutton (1675 - 1732) and Martha Aldous (1667 - 1747), who were married 3 October, 1700, in Fressingfield.

Martha Aldous, born 1667 in Fressingfield, was christened in Earl Soham, 19 March, 1670. She died in 1747 and was buried 6 February, 1747. She was the daughter of Stephen Aldous (c. 26 February, 1636, Fressingfield - buried: 25 January, 1721, Fressingfield) and Ursula Wyard (born 1640/41, Earl Soham - buried: 29 January, 1701, Fressingfield, who were married around 1661 in Fressingfield.

Martha (b. 1667) was one of 10 children of Stephen Aldous and Ursula Wyard. The others were:

Francis c. 9 December, 1664, Earl Soham - buried: 7 February, 1733/4, Fressingfield; m. Elizabeth Smyth, 15 October, 1695, Fressingfield

William - c. 23 June, 1667, Earl Soham - buried: 7 February, 1734, Fressingfield; m. 1. Elizabeth Wright Hunting (c. 3 October, Fressingfield - buried; 31 January, 1724, Fressingfield) on 11 January, 1700, Fressingfield, Suffolk; 2. m. Mary Pullford, 31 March, 1725, Fressingfield.

Mary - c. 26 October, 1671, Fressingfield; Anne - c. 27 June, 1674, Fressingfield; died young.

Margaret - c. 27 October, 1676, Fressingfield - buried: 14 April, 1743; m. Robert Giles, 22 September, 1709

Thomas - c. 27 November, 1679 - buried: 20 February, 1736, Fressingfield; m. Ann Goddard, 16 December, 1702, [[Hoxne]], Suffolk

John - c. 18 October, 1681 - buried: 13 April, 1731, Hoxne, Suffolk; m. Mary Roper, 29 September, 1709, [[Wingfield]], Suffolk

James - born ca 1683 - d. 28 November, 1755 in Huntingfield, Suffolk; m. Mary Stone, 25 May, 1704, [[Brockdish]], Suffolk

In one of the older instances of the name in Fressingfield, Suffolk, Peter Aldous, of that village, was assessed for taxation purposes in 1327.
